How to select a pool builder
The Guide does not award stars or declare a universal “best” builder. We give readers a repeatable method for evaluating project fit and evidence.
Define the assignment
Write the intended use, property conditions, pool system options, access, local requirements, surrounding work, timing, and decisions still open.
Build a relevant longlist
Use local directories and referrals to identify businesses that currently perform the required work in the project location.
Verify identity and standing
Match the contracting name to applicable official records, insurance evidence, people, website, proposal, and the service being offered.
Test comparable experience
Review recent work with similar system, site, access, scale, finish, jurisdiction, and complexity. Speak with comparable references.
Normalize the proposals
Compare structure, equipment, utilities, access, approvals, deck, drainage, barriers, landscape, assumptions, exclusions, allowances, and handover.
Review the delivery controls
Document supervision, specialist trades, communication, schedule, payments, changes, testing, closeout, warranties, and post-completion support.
